I don’t know how old I was when I first heard this song, but I’m pretty sure it was track #2 of the first CD I burned back in grade 4. (Track one was, obviously, a Simpson’s mash-up. The Simpson’s mash up was also track three by accident).
What better song to bring back #Tunesday with than a parody of pop music itself? This song has enough “Shooby-dooby-doo-wops” and “La, la, la’s” to meet anyone’s pop music needs, along with a catchy melody to sing along to. It’ll get your toes a-tappin’ and your hips a-wigglein’.
One of my favourite parts of #Tunesday is watching the music video for my favourite songs. This one is a jewel: monotone delivery; empty set; cool camera tricks – did you see how it made him look like he was IN the mirror? How cool?! – it has it all. Really, the only person who could have made a better music video for this song was me, as a 12 year old, lip syncing in the three-way bathroom mirror. (Now that’s what I call cool mirror tricks!).
Press play, crank it up, and transport yourself back to a time when music videos were simpler. Let your ears surf along a knarley New Wave. Let’s talk about Pop Muzik.
